Read & enjoyed some of your articles...Tom ....

Read & enjoyed some of your articles (& poems) on your blog. I particularly enjoyed your comments (Dec 2, 2107) about Cal v SMC (I'm watching SMC v Gonzaga on TV now !). Update: Gaels win @ Gonzaga !

As a kid growing up in Berkeley I never missed a Cal home game in the 1950s / early 60s. I became a Gael Frosh in Sept '60 ... your senior year. You're right about the solid, tough play of Bill McClintock. They were terrific in winning the NCAA in '59 with those consecutive victories over West Virginia (Jerry West) & over Cincinnati (Oscar Robertson).

Also, followed every USF game when Bill Russell got the Dons going in mid-1950s & 2 consecutive NCAA Tittles. I remember getting tix for the USf at Cal game where if USF kept winning they would break the all-time consecutive victory mark of 39 ... well, they beat Cal .......best remembered for Hagler's holding the ball almost the entire half resulting in a 33-24 win for USF.

Enjoyed my 1.5 years as a Gael & never missed a game & traveled all around the Bay Area & up to Stockton for a game. The following year I dropped out from SMC and worked to earn enough $ to transfer to Arizona State Univ & become a Sun Devil !! But while I was in the area, me & 3 SMC students took the trip down south to support the Gaels v Pepperdine & Loyola!

All the best ...
